Does anyone know whether it's possible to get a key for the Smart Array Advanced Pack (SAAP) so I can enable RAID 6 on my HP P410? They made SAAP v2 free, but never did it for v1. HP doesn't sell it anymore and the only sellers I can find are asking hundreds for it, when the card cost me £40.
- If an HP SAAP 2.0 license is installed on an HP Smart Array P222, P420i, P420, P421, or P721m controller, customers do not need to remove the license key prior to or after updating the firmware to version 4.68 or later. For customers with an HP Smart Array P222, P420i, P420, P421, or P721m controller with firmware 4.68 or later, installing.
- HP Smart Array Advanced Pack is ideal for customers utilizing SAS Smart Array Controllers and looking to further fine tune and protect their storage environments. Easy key activation of features further enhance performance, reliability, and availability of customer data.
- HPE Smart Array SR Gen10 can be configured by using either HPE SSA or the Smart Array Configuration Utility within the UEFI System Utilities. Both HPE SSA and UEFI System Utilities can be used to configure the Smart Array S-class, E-class, and P-class.
- HP Dynamic Smart array provides more customer choice with higher levels of data protection for embedded controllers, these data protection levels were earlier only available to standup controllers. With Dynamic Smart Array controllers (B120i and B320i) customers will be able to better use the emerging storage media, i.e.
- Be sure no power problems exist.
- Be sure no loose connections exist.
- Check to see if an update is available for any of the following:
- Smart Array Controller firmware
- Dynamic Smart Array driver
- Host bus adapter firmware
- Expander backplane SEP firmware
- System ROM
- Be sure the drive or backplane is cabled properly.
- Check the drive LEDs to be sure they indicate normal function. For information on drive LEDs, see 'Drive LED definitions.' For server-specific drive LED information, see the server documentation or the HP website.
- Be sure the drive is supported. To determine drive support, see the server QuickSpecs on the HP website.
- Power cycle the server. If the drive appears, check to see if the drive firmware needs to be updated.
- Be sure the drive bay is not defective by installing the hard drive in another bay.
- When the drive is a replacement drive on an array controller, be sure that the drive is the same type and of the same or larger capacity than the original drive.
- Run HP Insight Diagnostics. Then, replace failed components as indicated.
- When using an array controller, be sure the drive is configured in an array. Run ACU.
- Be sure that the correct controller drivers are installed, and that the controller supports the hard drives being installed.
- If the controller supports Smart Array Advanced Pack (SAAP) license keys and the configuration is dual domain, be sure the SAAP license key is installed. For more information, see the HP website.
- If SAS expanders are used, be sure the Smart Array controller contains a cache module.
- If a storage enclosure is used, be sure the storage enclosure is powered on.
- If a SAS switch is used, be sure disks are zoned to the server using the Virtual SAS Manager.
- For the HP Dynamic Smart Array B320i RAID controller to support SAS hard drives, be sure to install the SAS license key. For more information, see the HP website.IMPORTANT: The HP Dynamic Smart Array B120i RAID controller and the AHCI do not support SAS hard drives.
- If the HP Dynamic Smart Array B320i RAID controller or the HP Dynamic Smart Array B120i RAID controller is installed on the server, be sure that RAID mode is enabled in RBSU.
Add Raid licensekey to a HP Smart Array P421
For a mass storage application we had to use HP smart array Raid 6 functionality. Usually we bought P812 card which come directly with the Raid 6 features. But those new server I didn’t check the quotation and our supplier shipped us a Smart Array P421 which required the Extend Pack to work with Raid 6.
So after ordering it and going through the various HP web site in order to get my license key, here’s how to add it using the CLI.
